Stainless steel faucet, sink rusty must be a quality problem?

1. Stainless steel principle

Generally speaking, stainless steel is not easy to rust steel.

Let's start with the principle of stainless steel.

The rust resistance and corrosion resistance of stainless steel are due to the formation of chromium rich oxide film (passive film) on the surface of stainless steel. This rust resistance and corrosion resistance are relative. The results show that the corrosion resistance of steel increases with the increase of chromium content in the weak medium such as atmosphere, water and nitric acid. When the chromium content reaches a certain percentage, the corrosion resistance of steel changes abruptly, that is, from easy to rust to not easy to rust, from corrosion resistance to corrosion resistance.

2. Why does stainless steel rust?

Everyone in the stainless steel industry knows that unless there's something wrong with the brain, no one will guarantee you against rust. Some people think that stainless steel will never rust, in fact, this is a one-sided wrong view of the lack of understanding of stainless steel.

Stainless steel is not necessarily rusty, but the corrosion rate of stainless steel is much lower than that of other steels in the same environment, and sometimes it can be ignored. But not any kind of stainless steel, in any environment can be resistant to corrosion and rust.

Stainless steel is formed on its surface by a layer of thin and firm, stable chromium rich oxide film (protective film), to prevent oxygen atoms from continuing to penetrate, continue to oxidize, and obtain the ability to resist corrosion. Once there is some reason, the film is constantly damaged, oxygen atoms in air or liquid will continue to penetrate or metal iron atoms will continue to separate out, forming loose iron oxide, the metal surface will be constantly corroded.

3. In daily life, which conditions are easy to cause stainless steel to rust

There are many forms of destruction of the surface film.

1. When the kitchen is decorated, welding chips, cement, oil and other residues on the surface of the faucet and water tank may cause rust and mildew if not cleaned in time;

2. Sometimes, the newly decorated house with mineral or acid-base dust falling on the surface of faucet and sink will also cause "floating rust";

During use:

1. Steel items such as kitchen knives, scissors, bottle opener, etc. placed on the surface of the water tank for a long time will cause rust, mildew or discoloration;

2. Chemical agents, cleaning agents, paint, sauce, oil and other residues in the faucet, sink, a long time, will cause mold sticking to the surface of the faucet and sink;

3. In many areas of China, the water quality is poor, and the water pipes are too many galvanized pipes, and the content of iron and other elements in the water is too high. If there are many water stains left after the water tank is used, the iron in the water will rust over a long time, especially in the decoration of new houses. If the residual water in the water pipe is not cleaned in time, it is easy to cause floating rust.

In addition, these two basic substances can destroy the passive surface layer of stainless steel and cause corrosion to it

1、 Mechanical abrasives

It refers to the things that can scratch the steel surface, such as: steel brush, wire brush and metal fragments.

2、 Bleach

It's everywhere. In water, in food, in salt. One of the worst comes from household and industrial cleaners.

How to prevent stainless steel faucet and sink from rusting?

To ensure that the metal surface is permanently bright and free from corrosion, we recommend that:

Often clean and scrub the surface of decorative stainless steel to remove the attachment and eliminate the external factors causing corrosion.

Tips for stainless steel sink rusting

1. Toothpaste

The best way to get rid of rust is toothpaste, a necessity of life. First, wet the rusty place with water, then squeeze out the toothpaste, gently scrub it with soft cloth, and then rinse it with water. Repeat for many times until the rust is removed!

2. White vinegar

Vinegar, which contains acetic acid and white rust, can react with white rust.

3. Potato skin

With the peeled potato skin (the meat side), repeatedly wipe the surface of the stainless steel faucet, you will find that the dirt and scale will be slowly washed away.
